If you're still looking for a box, we have a new Quad core Xeon box just in testing at the moment. We can install whatever (free) OS you like and have up to 8Gb RAM if you need it. Give us a shout if you're still looking.

I just ordered a 8 core (2 x X5355), 16 GB, 6x15K SAS (RAID 10) server.

I would be very interested in finding out which version of MySql does best on this platform.

The server will not be online for 1-2 weeks from now. How long would your tests take?

Even,

Thank you we'll contact you shortly.

Frank,

What kind of Evaluation program are you speaking about ? I'm the most concerned about limits of results publications which were enforced by these big vendors at least when we had benchmarking activities when I worked for MySQL.

But we'll also look into that.

Hey Peter,

You may want to try Sun's evaluation program.

Thanks,
Frank

I have a new quad core Opteron box with Ubuntu 7.04-herd4, 4GB ram. How long would you need it for? One issue might be that remote access is not quite 100% reliable because it's over wireless, but it would probably still be fine.
