I wanted to provide an update on two things:
- Firstly, we have opened registration for InnoDB/XtraDB training in Los Angeles (Nov 18th).
- The second is that while I am in New York City for training (Oct 29th), I’ll be giving a (free) talk at the MySQL Meetup group there (Oct 28th).
We love to speak at Meetup groups. If you are an organizer feel free to let us know you are interested. There’s no guarantee that we can get schedules to align – but there are a number of Percona consultants that travel regularly.

As the part of FbFund educational seminars I will give a talk on MySQL Scalability for Facebook Application Developers. We have been working with number of top FaceBook applications and these are really fun to work with due to their commonly agile development approaches and explosive growth if it happens to be the hit.
The event will take place Tuesday July 7th at 10:00 – it will be 1.5-2 hours presentation followed by discussion with me, Vadim and Ryan participating from Percona side.

Today marks the official launch of Percona.tv. We’ll be uploading technical screencasts, conference video, and anything else cool we can think up. If you’ve got ideas or requests, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate!

Percona presented two talks at PHP Quebec last week – one on A Tour of MySQL High Availability, and another on Performance Tuning MySQL. There was a great reaction to showcasing some of the quick-wins that can be found by using the Percona patches. Unfortunately, the one thing that I forgot to mention in the slides is that the patches are Open Source and free to use.

I just posted slides from a talk I gave at a Facebook application developer conference in Las Vegas this weekend. The talk is titled Outrun the Lions. Our customers run several of the top 10 applications on Facebook right now (as measured by the number of active users), and I revealed the secrets to building applications that can handle the load.
