Our patches for 5.0 have attracted significant interest. You can read about SecondLife’s experience here, as well as what Flickr had to say on their blog. The main improvements come in both performance gains and improvements to diagnostics (such as the improvements to the slow log output, and INDEX_STATISTICS). Despite having many requests to port [...]

Today we announce release 1.0.2-2 of our XtraDB storage engine. Here is a list of enhancements: split-buffer_pool_mutex The patch splits global InnoDB buffer_pool mutex into several and eliminates waitings on flush IO and mutex when there is no enough free buffers. It helps if you have performance drops when data does not fit in memory. [...]
One of our customers gave me a chance to run some benchmarks on 24-core (intel cpu based) server, and I could not miss it and ran few CPU-bound tasks there. The goal of benchmarks was investigation of InnoDB-plugin and XtraDB scalability in CPU-bound load.
I’m again returning to InnoDB scalability and related bug #15815 as it hurts many users and customers using multi-cpu servers. Short intro into problem: On 4-CPU box 1 thread executes full-table scan select query for 8 sec, but with 4 threads – each thread executes query for 240 sec. It is very strange as threads [...]
