Calvin Sun on MySQL at Twitter, Percona Live 2014 and Facebook

Twitter’s Calvin Sun (@Calvinsun2012) is looking forward to the fast-approaching Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo this April 1-4 in Santa Clara, Calif. He’ll be speaking, yes, but he’s also looking forward to learning from his peers – particularly those at Facebook. Both companies, he explained, are in the rather unique positions of unprecedented rapid […]

Is your MySQL buffer pool warm? Make it sweat!

Today’s blog post diving into the waters of the MySQL buffer pool is a cross-post from Groupon’s engineering blog, and is Part 1 of 2. Thank you to Kyle Oppenheim at Groupon for contributing to this project and post. We’ll be posting Part 2 on Thursday. I’ll be at the Percona Live MySQL Conference and […]

10 years of MySQL User Conferences

In preparing for this month’s Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo, I’ve been reminiscing about the annual MySQL User Conference’s history – the 9 times it previously took place in its various reincarnations – and there are a lot of good things, fun things to remember. 2003 was the year that marked the first MySQL user conference […]

High-Performance Click Analysis with MySQL

We have a lot of customers who do click analysis, site analytics, search engine marketing, online advertising, user behavior analysis, and many similar types of work.  The first thing these have in common is that they’re generally some kind of loggable event. The next characteristic of a lot of these systems (real or planned) is […]

MySQL Community Dinner

Yesterday we started the conference early with MySQL Community Dinner which was quite a success with about 30-50 people showing up (hard to count as people come and go) even though it was conflicting with Silicon Valley MySQL Meetup and which at least prevented Jeremy and his team showing up. UPDATE: What I was thinking… […]

Meet MySQL Performance Blog guys on MySQL Users Conference

Percona, the company maintaining MySQL Performance Blog has a good presence on the conference this year. We have me (Peter), Vadim, Aurimas, Baron and Andrew attending the show. Alexey had to stay because he could not get Visa in time and Maciek is staying to be able to reliably service emergencies arising with our customers.

Speaking on MySQL Users Conference 2008

Guess what ? I also will be speaking at MySQL Users Conference 2008, which is always excited. According to session schedule I’ll have one talk about Innodb Scalability Limits and another one together with Andrew Aksenoff about Sphinx. Looking back at Proposals (+1) I’m surprised only one talk was chosen and also this particular one. […]

MySQL Users Conference Presentation Proposals

OK, I am not getting too much people feedback on what would they like to hear about on MySQL Users Conference, so I went ahead and submitted few presentation ideas. I do not expect all of them would be accepted, furthermore it would be hard to prepare so many good presentations if they are so […]

What would you like to hear about on MySQL Users Conference 2008 ?

It is submission time now, with about one week left till proposal submission deadline. Both me and Vadim had submitted few talks to the Grand Jury which will make elite selection of sessions for MySQL Users Conference and we plan to submit few more. Our experience in MySQL is rather broad – we can prepare […]

MySQL Northern European Customer Conference

Yesterday I’ve attended MySQL Customers Conference in London. This event is much smaller size than Users Conference (one day and about 170 people attending) and surely less geeky – there were no one from MySQL Development Support or Consulting teams and Sales Engineers were as close as you could get. Though Anders Karlsson and Ivan […]
