MySQL Configuration Wizard Updated

We’ve released an updated version of the MySQL Configuration Wizard we announced at the end of last year. If you don’t remember that announcement, here’s the short version: this is a tool to help you generate my.cnf files based on your server’s hardware and other characteristics. We’ve gotten really good feedback on this tool, including [...]

linux.conf.au 2012 roundup

I spent last week at linux.conf.au in Ballarat, Victoria (that’s the Victoria in Australia, not wherever else there may be one) which is only a pleasant two hour drive from my home town of Melbourne (Australia, not Florida). I sent an email internally to our experts detailing bits of the conference that may interest them [...]

Which Linux distribution for a MySQL database server? A specific point of view.

It’s time for the weekly roundup of news for Percona Server and XtraBackup. To follow up on my note from last week, we’re still checking and validating the download stats. It appears that Percona Server has been downloaded well over 100,000 times, and Percona XtraBackup has been downloaded over 200,000 times. But when we changed [...]

Ultimate MySQL variable and status reference list

I am constantly referring to the amazing MySQL manual, especially the option and variable reference table. But just as frequently, I want to look up blog posts on variables, or look for content in the Percona documentation or forums. So I present to you what is now my newest Firefox toolbar bookmark: an option and [...]

The Shift Support Team dispatches incoming emergencies, assigns new issues, handles or escalates incoming Nagios alerts from some customers, and in [...]
